Upcoming Events at the Massachusetts Center for Renaissance Studies

The Renaissance Center in celebration of its 10th anniversary is hosting many events for the community this fall.  The center is a research facility owned by the University of Massachusetts Amherst providing resources in literature and culture from the Early Modern Period (c. 1400-1700).

In honor of the anniversary the center is sponsoring a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth on October 10-12 and 17-19.  The production is directed by Nate Leonard, a graduate student at the Renaissance Center and will be performed at the Black Box Theater. Admission in $15 for general public and $10 for students and seniors.

The center is also hosting a lecture series on topics related to renaissance studies by faculty and visiting fellows.  The series begins on October 8 with a lecture by Rachael Hare Mussin entitled “Podunk, Tuxedo, Mugwump: American Indian Terms in English.”  The lecture will discuss the early contact between Europeans and Native Americans in New England.  This series is free and open to the public.
